Life as a new immigrant comes with its fair share of trials. Moving across continents with just two suitcases leaving behind my family, friends and life as I knew it was the toughest thing I’ve done. The first few months were filled with feelings of loneliness and extreme anxiety. I was constantly second-guessing my decision, stressed about my finances and missing my loved ones back home. My mental health was in a state of turmoil.

It was then I realized how important it is to talk to someone. I also realized there are so many fellow immigrants out there who are experiencing the same struggles and that I am not alone. Having a support system helped me immensely and I feel so much more settled now that time has passed. It is okay to feel stressed, lonely and anxious. It is okay to speak up about it and to seek help. It is okay to not feel okay.
